Benefits of Manuka Honey

manuka.honey

It has been said that honey contains antibacterial benefits but Manuka Honey specifically has even more antibacterial benefits than your average jar of honey. The Manuka pollen is collected by honey-bees from the Manuka tree (Leptospermum scoparium). The bush only flowers between 2-6 weeks of the year and comes from the same plant family as the Tea Tree in Australia.

This honey is full of antioxidants and natural properties to keep itself fresh naturally without any preservatives or refrigeration. The natural antibiotics in Manuka Honey are perfect for adding to your tea, steel cut oats or smoothie. Take daily to prevent sickness and help your body fight against disease!

When you are buying your Manuka Honey pay attention to the “Active” number, this one I have in the photograph has an active level of 12, anything over 10 is going to be beneficial! This honey tends to be a lot more expensive but a little goes a long way so you will find the jar lasting you a long time.

Thanks for this great info. Is this honey hard to find? It sounds like a simple thing to incorporate into my daily routine by adding it to my tea!

It was a little hard to find the first time I was looking for it because it was located on the bottom shelf! I purchased mine from the honey section of my local Whole Foods
